The Christian Network Expands Carriage of Worship Network via WEGENER’s Video over IP Solution
October 06 2010 - 8:30AM
Business Wire
Wegener Corporation (OTCQB: WGNR.PK), a leading provider of
equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks
worldwide, today announced the expansion of carriage for The
Christian Network’s (CNI’s) Worship Network into 5 additional
affiliates utilizing WEGENER’s unique file-based broadcasting
solution.
“We are happy to announce since our successful launch of
WEGENER’s solution on Sky Angel’s IPTV platform we have gained
carriage on Golden Eagle Broadcasting – a national DirecTV feed, 2
Univision Broadcasting affiliates and 2 Christian Television
Network affiliates in Florida,” Tim Rasmussen, Sr. Director of
Production of CNI stated. “Carriage with these affiliates
significantly expands our audience reach.”
Editor’s Recap: CNI utilizes file-based broadcasting techniques
to distribute and broadcast Worship Network. The end-to-end video
over IP solution combines a subscription to WEGENER’s
CompelConnect.com SaaS (Software as a Service) network control with
WEGENER iPump media players at each edge location.
Each Worship Network program is sent via IP to WEGENER iPump
media players at affiliate locations. The programming is seamlessly
output as a virtual broadcast based on a playlist. This technique
significantly reduces distribution costs as repetitive content is
distributed only once to affiliates. Additionally, content can be
sent in advance, in bulk data transfers. The solution offers
flexibility to develop new advertising and branding opportunities
with insertion of multiple, independent, overlapping graphics and
text crawls over the IP video.
