Chair Appointment

The Board of Sovereign Housing Association has approved the appointment of Paul Massara as its new Chair with effect from 30 July when current Chair, Gordon Holdcroft, steps down after 10 years on the Board.

Paul is an experienced Non-Executive and Executive Board director across a range of industries with particular experience in the energy sector in both Europe and North America. He was CEO of RWE Npower and on the executive committee of both RWE and Centrica/Direct Energy. He is a member of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee on Fuel Poverty and a Non-Executive director of Electron, a blockchain company seeking to provide the digital backbone for the electricity industry.

Paul will join at an exciting time for Sovereign, as it moves into the next phase of its ambitious plans. He will work closely with the Board and executive directors as the business focuses on transforming its landlord service to align with changing customer expectations, shifts to a land-led model for building new homes, and strengthens its corporate foundations to provide a strong platform for growth through new ways of working and resilient technology.
