Jupiter Financial Trust PLC ('the Company') received notice today from Aberdeen
Asset Management PLC ('Aberdeen' ) that following its acquisition of Edinburgh
Fund Managers Group Plc on 24th October 2003, Aberdeen and its subsidiaries held
7,877,295 Ordinary shares ('Shares') of the Company representing 10.50% of the
issued share capital of that class.

Subsequently on 3rd December 2003 Aberdeen sold 3,377,295 shares on behalf of
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC, thereby reducing the holding of Aberdeen
Preferred Income Trust PLC in the Shares of the Company to nil (previously
4.50%).

Following this transaction portfolios under the management of Aberdeen hold an
aggregate of 4,500,000 Shares representing 6.00% of the issued share capital of
that class.
