Archipelago Resources plc ("the Company") was informed on 29th August 2005 that
the Goldman Sachs Group Inc., (through its wholly owned subsidiary, Goldman
Sachs & Co.), has increased its shareholding in the Company to 7,550,000 shares
representing 7.65% of the issued share capital of the Company.
