Axis-Shield plc has today received notification that, as at 6 January 2006,
Barclays PLC, through its various legal entities, has an interest in 1,873,574
ordinary shares in Axis-Shield plc, representing 3.86% of Axis-Shield plc's
issued ordinary share capital.

This announcement requires to be made on the London Stock Exchange and is
repeated in Norway for Oslo Stock Exchange purposes in accordance with the
"equivalent information" rule (Rule DR 2.4 of the UK Listing Authority Rules).
