         Axis-Shield Signs New Homocysteine Commercialisation Agreement



Axis-Shield today announces that it has signed an agreement with Dade Behring
GmbH of Marburg, Germany, to develop, manufacture and supply homocysteine assays
for Dade Behring's BN nephelometry platforms. The agreement also allows for
Axis-Shield's production of homocysteine assays for other Dade Behring
instrument systems in the future. It is expected that the first tests will be
launched during 2003.



The market for modern, non-HPLC, high throughput laboratory tests for
homocysteine is increasingly rapidly as the utility of this marker in a number
of key therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases
become established. Axis-Shield is already working with a number of global In
Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) platform suppliers in the provision of homocysteine
tests, illustrating the value of the Axis-Shield patents for detection of this
analyte.
