 AXIS-SHIELD NAMED "VENDOR OF THE YEAR" AWARD FOR AFINION BY PSS IN THE USA FOR 
                          THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR 
 
 
Dundee, Scotland, Oct 27, 2010: Axis-Shield plc (LSE:ASD, OSE:ASD) 
("Axis-Shield" or "the Company"), the innovative international in-vitro 
diagnostics (IVD) company, today announces that it has been named "Vendor of the 
Year" for Afinion(TM) by Physician Sales & Service, Inc. (PSS), the largest 
distributor of medical supplies and services to office-based physicians in the 
United States, for an unprecedented second consecutive year. 
 
PSS, the physician business of PSS World Medical (NasdaqGS: PSSI), is the 
exclusive distributor of the Afinion(TM) Point-of-Care System in the USA, 
working alongside Axis-Shield's own sales force which has trebled in size since 
March 2010, when the Company repurchased the US Afinion(TM) distribution rights 
from Abbott.  PSS is a vital partner to Axis-Shield in the growing commercial 
success of the Afinion(TM) product in its key US marketplace. The "Vendor of the 
Year" award recognizes revenue growth compared to the previous year, development 
and support of products and programmes designed to innovate and differentiate 
customer solutions, creating quality products and providing quality field 
support.
