Proposals re. Redemption of Debenture Stock

Whitbread today announces that its wholly owned subsidiary, Whitbread Group PLC
("WGPLC") has convened separate meetings of holders of its #200,484,515 11.625%
Debenture Stock due 2011 and #100,000,000 8.125% Debenture Stock due 2021.  Each
meeting, which will be held on Thursday 30 August 2007, will consider
extraordinary resolutions relating to the early redemption of such stocks and
the price payable on such early redemption.

Any amounts payable on redemption of the Debenture Stock following the passing
of the resolutions would be financed out of existing cash resources and short
term bank borrowings.
