BIL TO CONSIDER SHAMROCK PROPOSAL

Brierley Investments Limited (BIL) today announced it would consider the
proposal by Shamrock Capital Advisers (Shamrock) to fund a $200 million
convertible note issue in return for two Board seats, a management contract and
options over 3 percent of existing shares at its Board meeting on 15 October.

Chairman Sir Roger Douglas said the Board had been holding discussions with
Shamrock over its proposal and had communicated to Shamrock its intention to
discuss the matter at its 15 October Board meeting.
