             BETA VIET NAM FUND LIMITED ("BVNF" or the "Company")


Further to the announcement made by BVNF on 24 August 2001, with regard to an
approach from Indochina Finance (Thailand) Limited ("IFTL"), the Company
announces that IFTL has now withdrawn its intention to make an offer for BVNF.
