Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. ("CDTI") (Nasdaq:CDTI), a cleantech
emissions reduction company, announced today that it has secured
two new commercial agreements to supply its emission control
technology. The first, a contract worth over $320,000, will result
in Clean Diesel supplying 14 high value Purifier e4® DPF systems
into the Californian Off-Road Diesel Retrofit Showcase program. The
second, a new commercial opportunity developed by Clean Diesel and
its business partner, GMS Lubricants B.V. (GMS), opens up an
exciting new market for Platinum Plus® in Northern Europe.
CARB Off-Road Diesel Retrofit Showcase Program
Following the success of previous California Air Resource Board
(CARB) Off-Road Diesel Retrofit Showcase program installations
completed over the past two years, CDTI will be supplying an
additional 14 Purifier e4 ® DPF systems. The Showcase program
provides grants and vehicles to diesel emission control ("DEC")
retrofit companies to develop and verify DEC solutions for the
majority of off-road vehicles used by California municipalities.
This multi-vehicle award will allow CDTI to install its proven
Purifier e4® DPF systems on various types of off-road vehicles such
as large and medium size scrapers, loaders and backhoes.
Utilizing its unique Platinum Plus® FBC technology together with
its advanced controller technology, CDTI can produce a robust and
compact system that has proven popular with fleet owners and
maintenance personnel.
Joe Crute, CDTI's Engineering and Technology Manager, stated,
"Retrofit of off-road vehicles creates a unique set of engineering
challenges. Problems, such as harsh operating environment,
difficult drive cycles, limited installation space, maintainability
and operator 'line of site' restrictions render 'off-the-shelf' or
multi-module 'active' solutions unusable for many applications
without significant vehicle modifications or compromise of operator
visibility."
"The FBC approach used in the Purifier e4® Systems is a filter
assembly with more compact dimensions than many 'active' or 'CRT'
type systems. Its regeneration temperature is also lower than
conventional 'passive' systems. This allows us to install the
system in low temperature applications, most times under the hood,
providing clear visibility to the driver and affording much needed
protection to the unit."
Clean diesel opens up new markets for Platinum Plus® in
Northern Europe Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. also
announced it has entered into an agreement to supply GMS Lubricants
B.V. (GMS) with its patented Platinum Plus® products for the
Northern European market. GMS is one of the largest suppliers of
specialty additives and lubricants to the automotive aftermarket.
Through its extensive distribution channel throughout the region,
GMS is ideally placed as a solutions provider to a growing
opportunity in the market.
Gilbert Groot, owner and managing director of GMS, says, "...in
cooperation with Clean Diesel, GMS has developed a range of fuel
additive products in our JLM brand specifically targeted at the
diesel passenger cars fitted with Diesel Particulate Filters
(DPF's). Since their widespread introduction on passenger cars in
2005, many DPF systems are known to struggle to operate correctly
during prolonged city driving."
"Based on Platinum Plus® technology, the JLM Diesel
Particulate Filter Cleaner additive, when added to the fuel,
conditions and cleans DPF's to ensure reliable operation at all
times."
With over 5 million cars currently fitted with DPF's, Clean
Diesel expects that GMS will be first into what will become a large
aftermarket opportunity providing a solution to a growing problem
in Europe. Clean Diesel's patent protected, high performance fuel
additive technology will ensure that GMS can fully capitalize on
this unique business opportunity.
Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. Clean Diesel
Technologies (Nasdaq:CDTI) is a cleantech company providing
sustainable solutions to reduce emissions, increase energy
efficiency and lower the carbon intensity of on- and off-road
engine applications. Clean Diesel's patented technologies and
products allow manufacturers and operators to comply with
increasingly strict regulatory emissions and air quality standards,
while also improving fuel economy and power.
CDTI's solutions significantly reduce emissions formed by the
combustion of fossil fuels and biofuels (without increasing
secondary emissions such as nitrogen dioxide, NO2), including
particulate matter (PM), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide
(CO) and hydrocarbons (HC). As a result, they are effective for:
OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and retrofit providers; businesses entering
the emissions control market seeking solutions and expertise;
operators requiring compliant emissions solutions; fuel, biofuels
and additive suppliers seeking low emissions and energy efficient
products; and regulators creating public policy. Clean Diesel's
solutions, therefore, are ideal for such markets as: on-road
vehicles, construction, mining, agriculture, port/freight handling,
locomotive, marine, and power generation.
Clean Diesel develops and manages intellectual property from
original concept to full-scale commercial deployment. Building on
its more than 200 granted and pending patents, its offerings
include ARIS® selective catalytic reduction (SCR); the patented
combination of SCR and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR); hydrocarbon
injection for emissions control applications; Platinum Plus®
Fuel-Borne Catalyst (FBC); the Purifier™ family of particulate
filter systems; and its wire mesh filter particulate filter
technologies. CDTI was founded in 1995 and is headquartered in
