CAE USA awarded US$20 million in additional Special Ops contracts
(NYSE: CGT; TSX: CAE) TAMPA, Florida, April 26
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CAE USA has been awarded two contracts
valued at approximately US$20 million (C$25 million) by the U.S.
Army Program Executive Office -- Simulation, Training, and
Instrumentation (PEO STRI) to support mission rehearsal and
training systems for the U.S. Army's 160th Special Operations
Aviation Regiment -- Airborne (SOAR(A)). For the first contract,
which is valued at approximately US$12 million (C$15 million), CAE
will implement a new standard database architecture on two combat
mission simulators (CMS) that the company is currently building for
the 160th SOAR(A). Called the Common Environment/Common Database
(CE/CDB), the new architecture will be implemented on both an
MH-47G Chinook CMS and an MH-60 Black Hawk CMS currently in
development. The CAE-designed architecture, which is expected to be
standard on all future mission rehearsal and training systems
developed for the U.S. Special Operations Command, promises to
significantly reduce the timeline it takes to get a fully
correlated database in operation. The second contract, valued at
approximately US$8 million (CS$10 million) if all options are
exercised, calls for CAE USA to provide maintenance and support
services to the 160th SOAR(A). As part of the Special Operations
Forces Mission Rehearsal and Training Services (SOFMRTS) program,
CAE USA personnel will provide on-site training support services at
Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. The first simulator the company will
support on-site will be the A/MH-6 Little Bird that CAE is
currently delivering. "CAE is helping the 160th chart the future of
mission rehearsal with the development of the Common
Environment/Common Database," said John Lenyo, President and
General Manager, CAE USA. "We are committed to continued innovation
and leading-edge technology development for the Special Operations
community, as well as long-term service and support." CAE is a
leading provider of simulation and modeling technologies as well as
integrated training services for commercial and business aviation,
and defense customers worldwide. The company has annual revenues of
approximately C$1 billion, with operations and training facilities
in 17 countries on five continents. DATASOURCE: CAE INC. CONTACT:
