COMPLETION OF AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE

ONEAC CORPORATION ("ONEAC")

On 24 November 1998, Chloride announced, together with its interim results for
the six months to 30 September 1998, that a conditional agreement had been 
reached to acquire the entire shareholding in Oneac, a leading UPS and power 
conditioning company based in the USA, for a cash consideration of US$30 
million, payable on completion, plus up to a further US$5 million in cash 
depending on Oneac's earnings for the period to 30 November 1999.

The conditions applying to the acquisition have now been satisfied and the 
agreement was completed on 5 January 1999.

Keith Hodgkinson, Chief Executive of Chloride, said:

"This acquisition is of major strategic importance to us.  It considerably
increases Chloride's presence in the USA, the largest and fastest growing UPS
market in the world.  Also, the complementary product range will enable
Chloride to deliver total power protection solutions to its customers
worldwide."
