Two Directors representing employees at Saint-Gobain's Board of
Directors
Effective from December 1, 2014, the Board of Directors of
Compagnie de Saint-Gobain will have two new members, Alain Destrain
and Pascal Laï, appointed under the French Law on Securing
Employment of June 14, 2013.
Born in 1957, Alain Destrain has spent his entire career at the
Vauxrot plant (Saint-Gobain Emballage). Very early on, he became
involved in the union movement: first, in the Vauxrot plant, then
with local and national union bodies as Secretary in charge of
union affairs for the Aisne Regional Union for three years, and
also as a Member of the Federal Bureau of Glass and Ceramics since
1999. In 2002, he was put in charge of collective bargaining for
the Mechanical Glass Branch by the FNTVC (National federation of
glass and ceramics workers). Active in representative bodies at
Saint-Gobain Emballage and in the Saint-Gobain Group, he has been a
Union Representative and then a full member of the Saint-Gobain
Emballage Works Council, Central Union Delegate Verallia,
Saint-Gobain Group Council Secretary, Member of the Convention for
European Social Dialogue and a Member of the Select Committee. In
2013, as part of the recognition of union activity, he completed a
course leading to a qualification at Science Po Paris.
Born in 1962, Pascal Laï joined the Group in 1986 at the Aniche
plant (Saint-Gobain Sekurit) where he worked for 20 years on the
production side of the business around the furnaces and then as a
toolmaker. In the early 2000s, he became involved in union
activities holding a series of mandates: full member of the Aniche
Works Council, Union Representative and Employee Delegate and full
member of the CHSCT (Health, Safety, and Working Conditions
Committee). He is also a full member of the Saint-Gobain Sekurit
France Works Council. In addition, he has held mandates as a full
member of the Saint-Gobain Group Council, as a Group Coordinator
since 2011, and as a full member of the Convention for European
Social Dialogue.
