                       FIRST-HALF 1997 SALES

Groupe POLIET sales amounted to FRF 11,617 million at June 30, 1997, up 2.1
percent at comparable scope of consolidation and exchange rates from the FRF
11,373 million recorded in first-half 1996.

Following the sale of the lock and hardware business segment to Assa Abloy,
Groupe Vachette reported sales of FRF 390 million for the period of January 1 to
May 31, 1997 versus FRF 479 million for first-half 1996.  For the comparable
period, sales declined by 0.7%
