Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Awards Concept of
Operations Development Contract to Thruvision
Stand-Off People-Screening Technology Has Potential To Improve
Passenger Throughput At U.S. Airports
Ashburn, VA. - November 1, 2018 - Thruvision, the leading
provider of next-generation people-screening solutions, today
announced that it has been awarded a Concept of Operations
Development Contract by the U.S. Transportation Security
Administration (TSA). Under the contract, Thruvision will provide
its passive terahertz people-screening technology to TSA.
TSA is tasked with developing innovative new solutions to
improve aviation security effectiveness and stay ahead of emerging
threats. With the International Air Transport Association
forecasting global air passenger volumes to grow annually at nearly
4% per year*, Thruvision will work with TSA to develop a range of
new concepts to improve passenger throughput at airport security
checkpoints using Thruvision's unique stand-off screening
technology.
"Thruvision has worked extensively with TSA already to
successfully test and vet our technology for use in surface
transportation security environments," commented Kevin Gramer, Vice
President of Thruvision Americas. Mr. Gramer continued, "It is a
logical transition for us to now work with TSA to support its
aviation security mission and expedite screening of passengers at
aviation checkpoints."
The Thruvision stand-off people-screening solution uses a
proprietary version of passive terahertz imaging technology to
address the growing need for safe, fast and effective detection of
threats and prohibited items concealed on a person. Unlike metal
detectors, which cannot detect non-metallic threats, the Thruvision
solution can detect any concealed objects at distances up to 25
feet. Also, it does not reveal anatomical details or emit energy or
radiation. Thruvision's technology was recently deployed by the Los
Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority, after it was
extensively tested and vetted by TSA.
"We believe Thruvision's technology has the potential to
complement existing TSA aviation checkpoint screening processes
through high throughput screening of travelers," said Gramer. "Our
goal is to help TSA increase security and passenger
satisfaction."

Transportation Security Administration. More than 200 units have
