PRESS RELEASE
DRAGON OIL PLC ("Dragon")
SPUD OF WELL LAM21/106
Dragon announces the spud of well LAM21/106, the first of four development wells
to be drilled from the LAM21 platform in its Cheleken Contract Area, offshore
Turkmenistan. Having completed the last of five successful wells on LAM22
platform in January 2003, well LAM 21/106 continues the development of the LAM
field.
The well is being drilled by the jack-up rig ASTRA owned by LukOil Shelf. The
well has a planned total depth of 5,200m. The LAM21 platform has been
refurbished so that oil from the new wells can be transferred directly into the
existing pipeline infrastructure.
Dragon's Chairman and CEO, Hussain M Sultan said:
"The spudding of well LAM21/106 marks another achievement in Dragon's
development of the LAM field. We are looking at options to implement a
continuous drilling programme."
