The project will include installing new fiber-optics cable and Category 5E data lines to connect dormitories, adding WI-FI capabilities to conference rooms and installing new VoIP telephones. In addition to benefiting students, the project is intended to enhance the ability of the El Rito campus to attract students from outside the area to northern New Mexico for continuing education programs. The College plans to offer week-long class sessions on computer programming, welding, traditional New Mexico wood carving, and weaving. Visiting students will have the opportunity to stay in the dormitories and will be able to use the new communications infrastructure for telephone and Internet access.
