Expansion of library and distribution deal with BBC
Entertainment Rights Plc, the global intellectual property
rights company has acquired 120 episodes of new programming
for the international marketplace. One of the series being
acquired, Custor's Last Standup, represents Entertainment
Rights' first distribution deal with the BBC.
Entertainment Rights has acquired multiple rights including
television, video licensing merchandising and publishing to
the following programmes:
* Titch is aimed at 2-5 years olds and is a 26 x 10
minute model animation series produced by Hutchins Film
Company and supported by a 12 book publishing deal with
Random House. A further 13 episodes are in production for
transmission on Children's (CiTV) in early 2001.
* Brilliant Creatures (21 x 15 minutes) a live-action
factual series which is shot on location around the world
and has had 2 series broadcast on CiTV. The series is aimed
at 7-10 years olds and provides an educational and
entertaining look at the animal world.
* Molly's Gang (26 x 10 minutes) is a successful pre-
school model animation series. It follows the adventures of
Molly and her alien friends. The series has been shown on
CiTV.
* Santa's Last Christmas (1x 30 minute animated special)
was produced by Martin Gates Productions and broadcast on
ITV. Santa's Last Christmas tells the story of what happens
when Santa and his elves oversleep, waking only days before
Christmas, with no time to make the toys to deliver on
Christmas Eve.
* Three Frogs, a 20 x 5 minute series about sibling
frogs. That was originally part of the Channel Ten
Australia show, Where to Find the Ladybird.
Custor's Last Standup is a 13 x 30 minute series about a 14
year old boy whose dream in life is to become a stand-up
comedian. It has been acquired through the BBC Rights
Agency and will be screened in early 2001 on Children's BBC.
Entertainment Rights has secured the worldwide television
and video rights, excluding the UK and Eire. The series
will be marketed at the international television
marketplace, MIPCOM, in October.
Commenting on the acquisition and distribution deal, Mike
Heap, Chief Executive said;
'The acquisition of these programmes is an important part of
our on-going strategy to secure and exploit children's and
family based entertainment properties internationally.
Whilst the consideration for the programmes was relatively
modest, the fact that the BBC has chosen to partner with us
for the first time on Custor's Last Standup and, that CiTV
is now an established partner is highly significant for
Entertainment Rights going forward. We are confident that
these properties will be very successful in the
international television and consumer products marketplace.'
