  Entertainment Rights Plc signs major licensing deal with Hasbro

Entertainment  Rights Plc, the global intellectual property  rights
group has agreed a master merchandising agreement with Hasbro Ltd.

The   three-year  deal  will  give  Hasbro  the  worldwide   rights
(excluding  the  US  and Japan) to produce a range  of  merchandise
based  on  one of the UK's favourite characters, Basil  Brush.   In
1999  worldwide  licensing revenues reached $143.5 billion  (source
Screen  Digest July 1999, The Business of Children's TV).  Included
in  the deal is an extensive range of products such as plush  toys,
hand puppets, backpacks, fashion, games and puzzles.

The  deal  is the first major signing for the Entertainment  Rights
newly expanded licensing division which was launched at the Brand &
Licensing Show in London. Entertainment Rights Licensing is  headed
by  Trudi  Hayward,  who recently joined the group  from  a  Senior
position at Copyright Promotions Group Plc.

The  Hasbro deal is part of an on-going strategy to re-launch Basil
Brush  around  the  world. Entertainment Rights recently  announced
plans  to  develop a television sitcom starring Basil and has  also
recently  signed  deals with Panasonic and  Superdrug  for  use  of
Basil's image in advertising campaigns.

Mike Heap, Chief Executive Entertainment Rights Plc said:

worldwide  potential. This agreement is a significant step  forward
in  Entertainment Rights strategic vision to establish Basil  as  a
global  character.  Character  licensing  is  expected  to   be   a
significant  contribution to the group's annual revenues  by  2002,
Basil Brush will be a major contributor to this'.
