ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - CHIEF EXECUTIVE'S COMMENTS ON CURRENT TRADING

Sales growth in the first four months of the year has continued
to be strong.  Bestsellers  that have made significant
contributions include Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier, Miss
You Forever by Josephine Cox and Russell & Rubinstein's
Pathology of Tumors of the Nervous System (6th edition).  The
Board remains confident that 1998 will be another year of good
progress for the Group.
