Impax Asian Environmental Markets plc (the "Company") announces that it has purchased 270,000 of its own ordinary shares in the market at an average price of 80.47p per share. The highest price paid per share was 80.75p and the lowest price paid per share was 79.50p. These shares will be held in Treasury.

Following this share re-purchase, the Company's share capital consists of 214,990,198 ordinary shares of 1p each, carrying one voting right each and 39,000,393 subscription shares of 0.1p each, carrying no voting rights. The Company will be holding 270,000 ordinary shares in Treasury.

Therefore, the total number of voting rights for ordinary shareholders is 214,720,198. For shareholders holding both ordinary shares and subscription shares, the total number of voting rights is 253,720,591.*

The above figures may be used by shareholders as denominators for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change of interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
