Invu teams up with Smartways to offer online data backup service
Invu Plc ("Invu" or the "Company"), one of the UK's leading document management
software companies, is joining forces with leading managed IT service provider
Smartways to launch Invu Online Backup powered by Touchpoint.
Trusted by thousands of UK businesses as a safe repository for valuable data,
Invu has conducted extensive research among its customers and partners, which
has resulted in demand for the Company to extend its service offering to online
backup.
Smartways was selected as a suitable partner for this service due to its
reputation as a pioneer in internet services and software development and its
superior online backup solution - Touchpoint. This award-winning technology
incorporates Asigra technology, also used and trusted by companies including the
likes of Vodafone, Coca-Cola, Freeserve and Hewlett Packard. Its data is also
handled to the same standard adopted by the US Government.
Colin Gallick, Invu's CEO said of the partnership: "Thousands of customers trust
us with their business-critical data, so it seemed a natural progression to go a
step further and offer store and recovery protection for that data. We turned to
the industry leaders to help us create this service as it's vital our customers
receive the best service available on the market."
This portal technology delivers powerful and flexible online backup and recovery
capability far superior to traditional tape or disk backup methods, integrating
easily with most IT networks. Highly secure and encrypted, it dramatically
reduces the risk of data loss through technical mishaps that often occur with
tapes and disks.
In the event of an unavoidable failure, downtime can be significantly reduced by
up to 80% as data is quick to recover, saving businesses thousands of pounds in
lost revenue. The service is also highly cost effective without the need to
purchase tapes or disks and billing is transparent as it is calculated on the
volume of storage space used rather than the number of users. Backup time is
also significantly reduced by fully automated software accessible from a central
point, therefore requiring minimum management.
Mike Rickards Managing Director at Smartways said: "We're delighted to be
working with Invu; our combined expertise will ensure the safe storage of our
customers' data. As one of the most valuable assets a company has, the risk of
failure to a business is high when this information is accidentally destroyed.
Invu Online Backup will effectively act as custodian of business-critical
material, ensuring it remains in a safe environment at all times."
Online Backup is an addition to Invu's industry-leading software support package
- InvuCare, which entitles customers to Invu Online Backup and its associated
services at a special rate.
