          John Manser appointed Chairman of Chinese Private Equity Fund


London Asia, the Greater China focused investment and merchant banking group,
announces that John Manser is to be appointed Chairman of its new fund, the
London Asia Chinese Private Equity Fund Limited ("the Fund").


The Fund, which will seek significant capital growth via investment in private
equity opportunities in China, is currently seeking to raise up to #50 million
and is sponsored and advised by Collins Stewart Limited. The Fund will seek a
listing on the UK's AiM Stock Market.


Mr. Manser is the former Chairman of Robert Fleming Holdings Limited and has a
distinguished City career spanning more than four decades. During his career at
Robert Flemings, John Manser, aged 66, held a number of high profile management
positions including: Managing Director of Jardine Fleming in Hong Kong, Managing
Director of the Save and Prosper Group, Group Chief Executive and subsequently
Chairman of Robert Fleming Holdings Limited, a post he held until his retirement
from the Group in 2000.


He is currently Chairman of Intermediate Capital Group PLC, Shaftesbury PLC and
Hiscox Investment Management Limited, Deputy Chairman of Colliers CRE plc and a
Director of SAB Miller plc. He is a former Chairman of The Wiltshire Community
Foundation and is a Trustee of Salisbury Cathedral Trust and Marlborough College
Charitable Trust.


He was a director of the Securities and Investment Board between 1986 and 1993
and was appointed a CBE in 1992 and Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire in 1999. He
was Chairman of the London Investment Banking Association and on the President's
Committee of the British Banking Association between 1994 and 1998. Educated at
Marlborough College, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
