Appointment of Non Executive Director
London Asia, the AIM-listed merchant banking group focused on Greater China, is
pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Cesidio Di Ciacca as a Non Executive
Director. Mr. Di Ciacca, aged 50, is replacing Ms Susan Tham as a
representative of Scarborough Group and Teesland plc's shareholding and
continued active interest in London Asia. Susan Tham has resigned as a director
and the board of London Asia thank her for her time and contributions to date.
Mr. Di Ciacca is an advisor to Scarborough Property Group, which has property
investments in China as well as Europe. He is also non executive chairman of
Chardon Management Limited, a hotel management company. Mr. Di Ciacca read law
at Edinburgh University and practised as a solicitor until 1994, when he moved
into the property industry and venture investment in emerging markets, including
Hungary and Eastern Europe.

Full name of proposed director: Cesidio Martin Di Ciacca.
Age: 50
His practising certificate as a solicitor was suspended for two years in 1995
following conviction in April 1994 for failing to disclose to the Inland Revenue
a payment received when he sold part of his garden. He was fined by the court
#2,000.
George St (No.1) Ltd, a company of which he was a director, was put into
voluntary liquidation as part of an Inland Revenue approved Group
reconstruction.
