Meikles  Africa Limited confirms that discussions between
the  present  owners of Beverley Building Society  and  a
local  consortium  are  still  in  progress.   The  local
consortium,  which  includes Meikles  Africa  Limited,  a
group of indigenous businessmen and Real Africa Durolink,
is in close contact with the Government over the proposed
transaction.  A further statement will be issued  in  due
course.
