              New Star Asset Management Group PLC ("the Company")              

Application has been made to the Financial Services Authority and the London
Stock Exchange plc for 35,000,000 ordinary shares of 25p each ("shares") to be
admitted to the Official List.

It is expected admission will be granted on 17 July 2008 and trading will
commence on 18 July 2008.

These shares are being issued pursuant to The New Star Employee Shared
Ownership Plan.

These shares will rank pari passu with the Company's existing issued ordinary
shares.
