Oriel Resources Plc ('The Company") announces that on 10 September 2004 it
received the following notification, dated 10 September 2004, from Threadneedle
Asset Management Limited that on behalf of American Express Company and its
group, Littledown Nominees Limited's holding of notifiable interest in the
Company was 17,528,230 Ordinary Shares in the Company which are held as follows:

This represents approximately 10.7% of the current issued ordinary share capital
of the Company.
Littledown Nominees Ltd is a nominee for various AXP Group subsidiary companies,
in particular Threadneedle Pensions Ltd. It also acts for (a) the Depository of
each of Threadneedle Investment Funds ICVC and Threadneedle Specialist
Investment Funds ICVC, which are managed by the AXP Group subsidiary company
Threadneedle Investment Services Ltd; and (b) the trustee of several unit trusts
managed by Eagle Star Unit Managers Ltd, another AXP Group subsidiary company.

These and any other entities shown as the registrant of shares disclosed in this
notification also act for organisations that are not members of the AXP group of
companies.

AXP is American Express Company, a company incorporated in the USA.

The Company also announces that on 10 September 2004 it received a notification
from Credit Suisse First Boston Equities Limited ("CSFB"), that on 8 September
2004, following disposals, CSFB no longer has a notifiable interest in the
ordinary shares of the Company.

CSFB is a member of the Credit Suisse First Boson group of companies. Those
group companies, which are direct or indirect holding companies of CSFB, are
under the terms of section 203 of the Companies Act 1985, each interested by
attribution in any shares in which CSFB is interested.
