ROYAL LONDON UK EQUITY & INCOME TRUST PLC ("the Company")

DISCLOSURE OF INTERESTS IN SHARES







The Company has today been notified by Aberdeen Asset Management PLC ("AAM") on
behalf of its fund management operating subsidiaries* that, as a result of the 
disposal of 4,451,112 ordinary shares by Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC 
(currently in receivership) on 17 May 2004, the total number of shares managed 
by Aberdeen Asset Management PLC's fund management operating subsidiaries is now 
6,274,294 ordinary shares representing 8.96% of the issued capital of that class.


Relevant clients of AAM's UK fund management subsidiaries, on behalf of which
these shares are held are:
