SIBIR ENERGY PLC
Sibir Energy ('the Company') today announces the resignation of Nicholas Berry
as a non-executive Director of the Company.
Mr Berry has been a long-term supporter of Sibir, having been a substantial
shareholder since 1997 and a Director since 2000. As already announced Mr Berry
has sold a large proportion of his shareholding recently and although he retains
a shareholding in the Company both he and the Board now feel that it is
inappropriate that he should continue to occupy a seat on the Board which would
be more appropriately occupied by an independent representative of the company's
institutional shareholders.
Henry Cameron, CEO of Sibir, said:
"It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Nicholas. He has been a great and
active friend to Sibir throughout its formative years and I am sure will remain
supportive in the future The Board and I thank him for his constant interest,
input and advice during this time. We have always understood that the oil sector
was not his key area of focus and that he would most likely sell down his
shareholding when he felt the Company had reached a certain stage in its
development and achieved its medium-term objectives which stage the Company has
now clearly attained".
