PRESS RELEASE 2 July 2012
Straight wins Dorset waste partnership
Straight plc, the environmental products and services group and
the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of waste and recycling
container solutions has won a key new contract with the Dorset
Waste Partnership.
The new three year contract is worth more than GBP750,000 and
will see Dorset Waste Partnership overhaul recycling and refuse
services for all properties in the County (not including
Bournemouth and Poole).
A new kerbside recycling scheme is set to unify the county's
twelve different recycling collections into one standard system in
order to streamline collection procedures to reduce resource
requirement. Dorset Waste Partnership believes that the new scheme
will also help to make significant cost savings.
Under the terms of the new three year contract, Straight will
manufacture and supply almost 200,000 products to households across
Dorset. All households will receive a Straight 7 litre Kitchen
Caddy and a Straight 23 litre Kerbside Caddy for the indoor and
outdoor collection of food waste. Households will also receive a
Straight 55 litre Kerbside Box for the collection of glass bottles
and jars. As part of the Dorset Waste Partnership's flexible
service, a Straight 44 litre Kerbside Box will also be available
for the collection of mixed dry recyclables for those properties
unable to store a wheeled bin. Rollout is due to commence in
October 2012.
Jonathan Straight, Chief Executive for Straight plc commented,
"We are delighted to have been awarded the contract with Dorset
Waste Partnership and we are looking forward to working with them.
We are excited to be assisting them with the implementation of a
more cohesive recycling scheme and believe that the new scheme will
offer considerable benefits to both Dorset Waste Partnership and
Dorset residents."
Steve Burdis, Director of the Dorset Waste Partnership, added,
"We are very much looking forward to working with Straight plc as
the supplier of our food waste containers and recycling boxes for
the new 'recycle for Dorset' collection service. We believe that
Dorset residents will be delighted with their new containers, which
will help them to recycle more at the kerbside as we look to boost
Dorset's recycling rate to 65 per cent by 2015."

NOTES FOR EDITORS:
About Straight plc
-- Straight plc is the UK's leading manufacturer and supplier of
specialist kerbside recycling containers, as well as being a key
supplier of a broad range of waste and recycling container
solutions. Founded in 1993 by the current Chief Executive, Jonathan
Straight, the business has since supplied more than 25 million
kerbside boxes, baskets and caddies to local authorities across the
UK, securing its position as the industry leader.
-- The business operates through two divisions. The core Trade
Business supplying products in bulk to local authorities,
utilities, the waste industry, retailers and other businesses and
the Retail Business supplying a range of proprietary
environmentally friendly consumer products directly to the public,
often in partnership with a local authority or a utility.
-- In 2010 two major acquisitions changed the business model,
which previously relied on outsourced manufacture. In March 2010,
Straight acquired the business and assets of the UK business of
Helesi plc giving it a proprietary position in the wheeled bin
market. This was followed in August 2010 by the acquisition of
Powell Plastics, a key supplier of injection mouldedproducts to the
group. The Powell factory, in Hull, has since been developed to
include a blow moulding capability.
-- In February 2009, Straight added to its portfolio with the
acquisition of Harcostar Garden Products, a long established
premium brand consisting of water butts, compost bins, watering
cans and accessories. This gained new distribution channels for the
business in the UK and in Europe.
-- In 2005, Straight acquired Blackwall Limited, the UK's
largest supplier of home composters and water butts. Through the
Blackwall brand, Straight has delivered more than 3.5 million
compost bins and water butts.
-- Almost two thirds of the products the Group supplies are now
produced in Straight's own factory.
-- Straight plc has established diverse overseas sales channels
for its products, some of which are manufactured locally to their
markets in North America and in Australia. Other markets are
serviced from UK production.

About the Dorset Waste Parnership (DWP)
-- The Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) was officially launched in

Council, East Dorset District Council, North Dorset District
Council, Purbeck District Council, West Dorset District Council and
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council). Between October 2011 and
January 2012, all seven partner councils agreed to the introduction

existing collection services across Dorset (not including
