THORNTONS PLC BOARD CHANGE

Thorntons PLC, the chocolate and confectionery retailer
and manufacturer, announces that Roger Paffard, Chief
Executive, has today left the Group by mutual agreement.

The search process for a Chief Executive has commenced
and until this appointment is made, John Thornton,
Chairman, will be assuming direct management
responsibility.

The interim results for the 28 weeks ended 8th January
2000 will be announced on 7th March 2000.
