                                 BOARD CHANGE


Thorntons plc ("Thorntons") the manufacturer, retailer and distributor of high
quality confectionery and other sweet foods announces that Jon Pollard, Supply
Chain Director, is leaving the Company and has therefore resigned from the
Board. A search for his replacement has already begun.


Trading is currently in line with management's expectations.

Chris Burnett, Executive Chairman of Thorntons commented:
