Notification of Directors Interest

The Company has received today notification that the Thornton Retirement Annuity
Trust Scheme ('RATS') sold on 1 March 2002, 168,720 ordinary 10p shares (0.25%
of issue class) at a price of 122p per share. The Trustees of the Scheme are BGL
Reads Trust Company Ltd. The Thornton RATS is an approved Guernsey Pension Fund,
with its sole member being Michael Thornton.

The Company has further received today notification that Michael Thornton sold
on 4 March 2002, 331,420 ordinary 10p shares (0.50% of issued class) at 122p per
share.

Mr Thornton's beneficial interest is now 1,224,675 ordinary 10p shares in the
Company with this representing 1.84% of the total shares in issue.
