Total Voting Rights
In accordance with Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5.6.1 Thorntons PLC notifies
that further to the exercise of SAYE  share options, the issued share capital
and voting rights of THORNTONS PLC is now as follows:

THORNTONS PLC's share capital consists of 68,337,492 Ordinary 10p shares with
voting rights attached (one vote per  Ordinary share). Therefore the total
number of voting rights in THORNTONS PLC is 68,337,492.

The above total voting rights figure (68,337,492) may be used by shareholders as
the denominator for the calculations  by which they will determine whether they
are required to notify their interests in, or a change to their interest in, 
THORNTONS PLC under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
