Thorntons PLC, the manufacturer, retailer and distributor of high quality
confectionery and other sweet foods, will be announcing preliminary results for
the year ended 26 June 2004 on Tuesday, 7 September 2004.

An analysts' briefing will be held at 8.30am followed by a press briefing at
