Thorntons announces that it has today received notification that in connection
with the re-arrangement of his personal affairs, 2,428,285 Thorntons shares in
which C J Thornton is beneficially interested have been transferred to SFT
Investments Limited, a company wholly owned and controlled by C J Thornton and
his wife.  Accordingly, there has been no change in the total beneficial
interest of C J Thornton in Thorntons shares.
