Vividas, the video streaming company, is delighted to provide a positive update regarding the agreement with Rip Curl Pty. Ltd ("Rip
Curl"), following the announcement on 13 March 2008 of an 'evaluation licence agreement'. Pursuant to this agreement, the evaluation of
Vividas' streaming technology was undertaken at the 'Rip Curl Pro' surfing event at Australia's Bell's Beach in March this year. The result
was a success both for Rip Curl and Vividas, with more than 700,000 viewers online and over 50TB of data served, thus proving the value of
Vividas' market leading technology, which combines scalability with high quality, full screen viewing.
Based on this success, the initial evaluation agreement has been replaced with a full scale licence agreement.
The first event to be streamed under the new licence will be the Rip Curl Pro Search World Tournament which takes place in Bali from 30
July 2008. Vividas' video streaming technology will deliver both live footage and on-demand highlights of the event to online viewers
worldwide, without the need for downloads and without any firewall issues.
Dane Sharp, Rip Curl's Group International Media Manager, commented,
"We chose to sign the licence agreement with Vividas because of the quality and adaptability of its technology.
This Rip Curl Pro Search World Tournament is expected to attract the largest number of online viewers to date and using Vividas' video
streaming technology will enable us to deliver broadcast quality viewing without any scalability issues from a remote beach in Bali.
Viewers will be able to watch live heats and highlights, or any heats they may have missed, in full screen, high definition format.
Moreover, one of the unique features of the Vividas technology is that the live stream immediately becomes an archive, so that highlights
can be created and annotated efficiently in real time, ensuring that the day's highlights are ready to go when the US audience wakes up."
Paul Neville, CEO, Vividas Group plc, said,
"The evaluation process at the Rip Curl Pro in Australia earlier this year validated the unique scalability and quality of our
technology, with the footage accessed by more than 700,00 viewers, and we are delighted that this success has led to the new agreement.
The next Rip Curl Pro in Bali is a perfect opportunity for Vividas to showcase its live streaming capabilities once again. We can
deliver a broadcast to virtually unlimited numbers of viewers from anywhere in the world, including a remote beach in Bali, without
compromising on quality.
The Rip Curl licence agreement is representative of the type and size of arrangement for which the Vividas technology is ideally suited.
We believe that the live event market represents an exciting growth area for the Group and this deal demonstrates the benefits which our
technology delivers to such events."
