Contract workers at the Dragon liquefied natural gas import terminal at Milford Haven in South Wales have walked out Tuesday, the company said in an e-mailed statement.

"Some of our contractors have left the site, we understand this is in support of industrial action elsewhere in the U.K," Dragon said in the statement.

A spokeswoman for Dragon couldn't immediately confirm the number of workers involved in the industrial action, but she told Dow Jones Newswires that operations at the terminal would continue as normal.

Contract workers at energy facilities across the U.K. have staged unofficial walkouts since Friday after French oil major Total SA's (TOT) laid off 647 contract workers at its Lindsey oil refinery in Lincolnshire.

Construction work at Dragon is on schedule and the terminal is expecting its first gas delivery by mid 2009, the spokeswoman added.

Dragon terminal's shareholders include BG Group (BG.LN), Petronas and 4Gas.
