LONDON--Everything Everywhere, the mobile operator that runs the
Orange and T-Mobile networks in the U.K., Tuesday announced an
agreement with Three to transfer 2x15 MHz, or megahertz, of its
1800MHz spectrum to Three.
MAIN FACTS:
-Disposal is in line with the European Commission's competitive
assessment of the merger of Orange and T-Mobile in the U.K. in
March 2010.
-Disposal follows news that the U.K. Office of Communications,
or Ofcom, has approved Everything Everywhere's request to
liberalize its 1800MHz spectrum for 4G LTE services.
-Ofcom and the European Commission will review whether the
divestment satisfies the merger commitments, and a response is
expected within the next three months.
-Financial details of the disposal weren't disclosed.
