Pacific Gas and Electric Company Sends Crews to San Diego to Help
With Power Restoration Efforts in Fire's Wake SAN FRANCISCO, Oct.
27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company today
sent 13 construction crews, as well as supervisors, mechanics, and
support personnel, to help restore power in the San Diego area in
the wake of devastating fires in the region. The crews will rebuild
electric transmission and distribution lines in northern and
southeastern San Diego County, by replacing poles and hanging new
wire. They are equipped and prepared to work in rough terrain, if
necessary. The 75 PG&E employees include a total of 68 repair
personnel, two supervisors and two clerical support, one
superintendent, and two fleet mechanics. They began assembling this
morning, coming from all over northern and central California, and
are expected to reach the San Diego area by late tonight. They are
expected to be deployed for at least one week, or longer if
necessary. By dispatching crews from several areas, instead of one,
PG&E is able to minimize any impact on its ability to provide
safe, reliable service to its customers. The 13 repair crews come
from San Francisco, Hayward, Salinas, Templeton, Stockton, Merced,
Yuba City, Vacaville and Ukiah. San Diego Gas & Electric
requested PG&E provide this mutual aid assistance early this
morning. DATASOURCE: Pacific Gas and Electric Company CONTACT:
