Earle has provided leadership at a time of rapid member growth and
a significant expansion of our collective ambitions for the
Council," said Robert Rose, Executive Director of the U.S. Fuel
Cell Council. "This is not a reward for past service. The members
have high expectations for the Council, and clearly believe George
is the person best suited to lead our continued growth and
expansion." Under Earle's stewardship the U.S. Fuel Cell Council: *
Published the first collective industry report on research and
development spending, revenue and jobs. * Commenced lobbying at
both the federal and state levels. * Initiated agreements with Fuel
Cells Canada, Fuel Cell Europe, The Fuel Cell Commercialization
Council of Japan and The World Fuel Cell Council to develop
industry standards, raise public awareness of fuel cells, conduct
educational programs and encourage policies that support fuel cell
development. * Created a Sustainability Working Group to develop
guiding principles for development of fuel cell products and
processes. "We will continue to refine and expand our message as
the voice of the fuel cell industry," said Earle. "Ultimately our
members will operate in a competitive environment, but at this
point in time, fuel cell companies must work together to build the
industry and educate the market. I will work to make the Council
the premiere unifying voice of the fuel cell industry." Future
plans include: development of a technology roadmap to help
prioritize the efforts of policymakers, academia and supply chain
