Inspections of U.S grains fell in the week ended Dec. 28, the USDA said Tuesday.

The agency's latest weekly report shows sharp declines across the complex. Wheat export inspections were reported at 273,671 metric tons, down from a revised 461,431 tons the previous week. Corn inspections were 569,735 tons, down from a revised 1.2 million tons in the week of Dec. 21, while soybeans inspections were 961,694 tons, compared to a revised 1.1 million tons a week earlier.

In the current market year, wheat exports totalled 9.6 million tons as of Dec. 28, down from 11.9 million tons a year earlier. Soybeans inspections also declined, to 23.3 million tons from 28.8 million tons, while corn inspections rose to 11.95 million tons from 9.60 million tons in the annual comparison.

In today's CBOT session, the most-active soybeans contract was falling 2%, wheat was down 1.8% and corn declined 1.4%.
