“The altered perception of THC has completely changed the face
of the vaping industry,” said Susan Knape, founder of A Case for
Women. “While previous generations may have refused to touch the
stuff, younger generations have embraced THC use as safe, natural,
and trendy. Yet, there is evidence that when young, developing
brains are exposed to THC, especially through vaping, it can cause
very serious health problems in teens, possibly even requiring
hospitalization. The bottom line is that vaping THC is not as safe
as you might think.”
A Case for Women is honored to work with the law firms of Lieff
Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein LLP, Rouda, Feder, Tietnen &
Mcguinn, and the Ribera Law Firm in this litigation. Lieff Cabraser
has a history of helping to protect youth harmed by vaping, as the
firm has achieved nearly $2 billion in settlements involving JUUL
and Atria for their role in contributing to the youth vaping
epidemic.
THC is now legal for recreational use in 24 states as well as
Washington, D.C. at less than 0.3%. However, the industry has been
largely unregulated. Brands such as STIIIZY have used this
opportunity to stand out from the pack and appeal to teens with
bright, colorful packaging and fun flavors, to the point where
going into a vaping store feels like going into a candy store.
With increased access, has come increased health problems.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), at least 16.3
million people had a THC use disorder in 2021, a 7 times increase
from 2013. Part of this growth is attributed to an increase in ER
visits for medical and mental health emergencies in teens related
to using THC.
Here are some signs that your teen may be vaping THC:
- Cannabis-induced psychosis
- Altered perception
- Anxiety
- Depersonalization
- Dizziness
- Intoxication
- Panic
- Paranoia
- Slurred speech
- Social phobia
- Weakness
Keep in mind that vaping THC does not have the same scent as
burning traditional marijuana.
As a team of women helping women, many of whom are also moms, we
stand ready to help you take powerful legal action that can help
hold the manufacturers accountable for targeting teens, with
potentially life-changing consequences. Talk to our team today to
see if you can join the lawsuit.
About A Case for Women
A Case for Women, founded in 2016, is the nation’s leader in
advocacy for women who need, and qualify for, contingency-based
legal services. It is our mission to educate women and their
families about the opportunity to take legal action that not only
provides compensation but also creates systemic change. We educate,
advocate, and ultimately connect women with law firms that can
represent them for no upfront fee. Since our inception, we have
helped tens of thousands who have been injured by the actions of
corrupt institutions and companies. This work has resulted in
significant societal changes such as the dramatic shift in
gymnastics coaching after the Larry Nassar MSU lawsuit, the
implementation of rideshare safety protocols, the removal of Essure
birth control from sale in the United States, removal of
asbestos-laced talcum powder from the market, and more.
