The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has announced that Ms. Christy Monaco will join OGC’s senior leadership as the Consortium’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) on 1 September, 2024.

Ms. Monaco brings to OGC a deep understanding of the geospatial industry, including historical and current trends, gained from her experience leading operations, technological transformation, organizational change, and resource management in the government and non-profit sectors of the geospatial and intelligence communities.

As OGC’s COO, Ms. Monaco will use her experience with federal agencies, partnership-building, event management, and member success to help grow and shape the Consortium as it looks to its next chapter and works with new and established partners and stakeholders to bring accelerated, practical, and implementable solutions to the world of geospatial.

Before her appointment at OGC, Ms. Monaco was the Vice President of Programs at the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), where she led content development for the Foundation’s events and programs, including the Foundation’s annual GEOINT Symposium. Ms. Monaco also oversaw the Foundation’s education & professional development initiatives and marketing & communication activities.

Ms. Christy Monaco starts as the Chief Operating Officer at the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), on September 1, 2024. Ms. Monaco has served in the U.S. Intelligence Community for over 30 years, holding positions with the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI), the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), and the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF). A government executive for over half of her federal career, in 2022 she was recognized by President Biden as a Meritorious Executive in the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service for her contributions at NGA. Christy currently resides in Alexandria, Virginia.
