Mike Jette has been endorsed by the Tucson Police Officers Association (TPOA) and victims like the Benitez family whose 17 year old son was murdered in July 2023. The Democratic Primary Election is on July 30, 2024. Mail-in ballots were sent on July 3.

A year ago, Isaac Benitez was murdered by two young men. The Pima County Attorney’s Office gave both defendants probation. This tragedy highlights the increased violence in Pima County and the inability of the Pima County Attorney’s Office to hold defendants accountable for violent and dangerous conduct. In the words of the victim family, “Isaac received a death sentence. We received a life sentence. The defendants received probation.” This unjust outcome has intensified the demand for a renewed focus on holding violent and dangerous offenders accountable and a call to action for the voters of Pima County to elect a seasoned prosecutor who understands the balance between justice, rehabilitation, and community safety. The victim family is using #justiceforisaacbenitez to bring awareness to this tragedy.

It is not surprising that amidst this tragic outcome, Tucson’s largest police officer union, TPOA, has enthusiastically and unequivocally endorsed Mike Jette to be the new Pima County Attorney. This endorsement is a testament to Jette's proven track record and deep understanding of local issues. These concerns are particularly relevant as Pima County Attorney candidate Mike Jette has received overwhelming support from local law enforcement, victims, prosecutors, and defense attorneys—everyone who has a firm understanding of the criminal justice system.

“I am honored to receive the support of the officers who risk their lives every day,” said Mike Jette. “It is telling that Tucson’s largest police union does not support the County Attorney. Instead, they chose experience and compassion for victims because it matters.”

Mike Jette has also received the endorsement of former U.S. Attorney District of Arizona Paul Charlton, former Pima County Superior Judge Deborah Bernini, the Arizona chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW), Tucson Association of Realtors (TAR), and earned the highest score across all candidates in the Tucson Metro Chamber candidate evaluation process. Mike’s candidate evaluation video and full candidate interview are available on his press page.
