The new platform allows the Department to easily manage event coordination, recruitment, and registration

PayIt, the leader in digital customer experience solutions with integrated payments for state, local, and provincial governments, is pleased to announce the launch of its digital volunteer and events management platform by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW).

The user-friendly platform enables ODFW to manage the full breadth of the agency’s volunteer activities — from recruiting volunteers to assist at a fish hatchery, serve as a wildlife area host, or instruct the public on how to safely enjoy the outdoors, to collecting and reporting on volunteer hours in a manner that helps the agency leverage their federal grant dollars. The system also makes it easier for the public to find, register, and participate in agency-led events like hunter education classes, learn-to-fish workshops, or opportunities to help stock fish in alpine lakes.

“Getting customers engaged in different events and programs is a great way to support our mission while fostering life-long passions for the outdoors,” said Kara Wymore at ODFW. “ODFW is excited to launch the new Volunteer & Event Management (VEM) system, designed to streamline volunteer management and enhance visibility of volunteer opportunities and educational events. Through VEM, the agency will offer more learning experiences and reach a broader audience of volunteers to support Oregon’s conservation & outdoor recreation efforts.”

ODFW will be able to use the new platform to easily recruit dedicated individuals with customizable volunteer opportunity postings and online training materials. Additionally, agency staff can spread the word about events, leveraging features for intuitive event promotion, website integration, and configurable event landing pages. Within the platform, ODFW staff will have access to insights into event participation and program success, with features including integrated surveys, hour tracking, and inventory management — ultimately enabling them to make data-driven decisions for future programs. Customers will benefit from an improved experience, featuring a modern shopping cart to manage event registrations and custom event recommendations based on their interests, skills, and preferences.

“We’re excited to be partnering with ODFW to deliver the new volunteer and events management platform,” said Chris Willard, general manager, Outdoors at PayIt. “This innovative system is the first of its kind — built to help agencies manage their full breadth of volunteer and public event activities under a single system. This system brings many benefits to agency staff, volunteers, and customers looking to learn how to safely enjoy the outdoors while ultimately supporting ODFW’s conservation mission.”

Additional programs will be added to the platform over the next few months, offering more opportunities for customers to engage with events and workshops. Learn more about how to get involved in upcoming ODFW events.
