Tester Completes Principal Accelerator Program, establishes SMB Accounting and Tax Practice in Duluth, Minnesota

DULUTH, Minn., Aug. 9, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dark Horse CPAs, a top accounting and tax firm serving small businesses and individuals across the nation, announces the promotion of Brett Tester to Principal. Brett's belief in himself and Dark Horse, along with his proven technical capabilities and strong relationships with clients and colleagues alike earned him a seat at the table, becoming an equity Principal of the firm.

Brett entered the Dark Horse Principal Accelerator Program in May 2023 and built a tax and accounting practice with recurring revenue of $200,000 in just over a year's time. In his newly built practice, he's discovered his passion for ideating and deploying tax saving strategies on behalf of his clients. With this focus and growing skillset in advisory services, the decision was made to promote him to Principal effective June 2024.

Speaking to the challenges posed by the Accelerator Program, Brett stated, "Dark Horse can bring in the qualified prospective clients but you still have to be able to close the deal at the right price and scope. Having zero business development experience prior to joining, there was certainly a lot of on-the-job learning. Having said that, it is remarkable how much I've grown in this area over the past year and it's no longer something I fear."

When asked about the most rewarding aspect of his journey in the Accelerator Program, he explained, "working directly with clients on a daily basis and advising them through the regulatory landscape is very fulfilling. Once you've built a good working relationship with clients, it's that much more rewarding when you see the fruits of your tax planning work pay dividends for them and see how that positively impacts their business and lives."
