Plynk®, the award-winning app designed to simplify investing and help investors grow their knowledge, today announced Virtual Portfolios, a new feature allowing users to seamlessly build a mock investment portfolio and view how it would have performed over periods of time – ranging from 15 years ago to yesterday.

Plynk Virtual Portfolios are designed to help users learn about historical market trends and build confidence before putting actual money into investments. The new feature continues the Plynk team’s mission to provide action-oriented education, as Virtual Portfolios can help demonstrate important lessons, like the potential benefits of diversification and understanding market trends and different levels of risk. For more advanced investors, Virtual Portfolios allow users the opportunity to experiment with different investing strategies, track historical sector performance, and explore investment types all in one place.

Commenting on the launch of Virtual Portfolios, Jared Hubbard, Plynk App Product Manager and registered associate of Digital Brokerage Services, said: "Whether you’re a seasoned investor or just starting your investment journey, Virtual Portfolios allow you to learn more about financial markets before investing. With this feature, we are focused on continuing to empower and educate Plynk users.”

The Plynk app lets users have as many as ten different Virtual Portfolios at a time, each including up to 25 securities. When viewing a virtual portfolio, users are provided with several metrics, including:

  • Starting dollar value on the date you selected, as well as the value today
  • Change in value over time vs the S&P 500
  • Total profit or loss as of today
  • Annual return: Average percent increase or decrease in price per year
  • Annual risk: Measure of the portfolio’s volatility
  • Sharpe ratio: Comparison of return vs risk

Users can also see past performance data for each security within their virtual portfolio.

The new feature is now available to all Plynk users, further enhancing the platform’s position as a destination for mobile investing and education.
