The Marysville Hotel owners are calling on the local City Council to take immediate action following a judicial mandate issued by Yuba County Judge Stephen Berrier. The judge’s ruling requires the city to clean up and abate the site, structurally reinforce the top portion of the hotel and address critical structural and safety concerns at the location of the Marysville Hotel. The city’s failure to act promptly poses significant risks, including potential injuries from falling debris and unsafe conditions.

“The owners have been conducting thorough investigations to determine the best approach to mitigate issues around the hotel with good faith practices,” said Daniel Katz, attorney for the Marysville Hotel. “By conducting thorough investigations with fire engineers, real estate brokers, and community members, we hope to provide a path forward that benefits the entire city of Marysville. However, the city must now fulfill its responsibilities and take the necessary steps to protect its local community.”

In support of this initiative, a petition titled “Save the Marysville Hotel: Demand the City Council to Comply with Court Orders and Address Safety Concerns,” has been launched. The petition addresses the community's frustration with the city's inaction and calls for the following actions:

  • Compliance with Court Orders: Immediate clean-up and abatement of the Hotel Marysville site, including necessary structural reinforcement, as mandated by Judge Berrier’s orders.
  • Debris Management: Urgent removal and proper disposal of fallen debris from the damaged structure to prevent potential injuries and ensure public safety.
  • Addressing Unsafe Conditions: Securing the area to prevent unauthorized access around the location of the Marysville Hotel.
  • Working with the Community: Engage with local stakeholders and community members to develop a plan that honors the building while meeting the needs of the Marysville community.

The petition aims to collect signatures to present to the Marysville City Council, rallying community support to secure the future of Hotel Marysville and to ensure the city takes necessary actions to protect public safety and address the building’s urgent needs.
